Castle Terraces
Looking straight ahead, you can see the “Canale Grande,” or “Grand Canal” which is right in the centre of Bayreuth! About 20 years ago, the concrete cover of the old “Mühlkanal,” or old mill channel was removed. During the opening ceremony, an authentic Venetian gondola travelled the canal. That’s why Bayreuth’s citizens decided to name the channel after the famous Grand Canal in Venice. Famous artist, Horst Antes, created the three steel sculptures in the water. They are part of Bayreuth’s “Sculpture Mile.”
